Azerbaijan, Bangladesh explore expanded partnership in multilateral diplomacy

18 June 2026 16:30

A phone conversation took place on June 18 between the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Bangladesh, Jeyhun Bayramov and Khalilur Rahman, during which the current state and prospects of bilateral relations were discussed.

Bayramov congratulated his counterpart on his election as President of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly and wished him success in his future activities. He stressed that the election to this prestigious position reflects Bangladesh’s growing role on the international stage, Caliber.Az reports, citing the ministry.

The sides noted the existing potential for expanding political dialogue, trade and economic ties, as well as cooperation in education, humanitarian affairs, and other areas.

The ministers also reviewed the Azerbaijan–Bangladesh partnership on multilateral platforms. In this context, the importance of mutual support within the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement, and the D-8 Organisation for Economic Cooperation was emphasised.

During the phone call, the two sides also exchanged views on regional and international security issues.
