Belarusian military delegation visits Azerbaijan under 2026 cooperation plan PHOTO
A delegation led by Colonel Dmitry Zhukovsky, Chief of the Troop Service Department of the Belarusian Ministry of Defence, has paid a working visit to Azerbaijan in accordance with the Bilateral Military Cooperation Plan for 2026 signed between the defence ministries of the two countries.
As part of a working meeting on “Maintaining Order and Discipline and Organising the Protection of Military Facilities,” Major General Azer Ibrahimov, Chief of the Main Department of Internal Security and Investigations of the Azerbaijan Ministry of Defence, met with the visiting delegation and expressed satisfaction at welcoming them to Azerbaijan, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry.
He noted that Azerbaijani-Belarusian relations, rooted in friendship and brotherhood, are based on mutual trust, confidence and support.
Colonel Zhukovsky, in turn, expressed gratitude for the hospitality extended to the delegation and stressed the importance of expanding bilateral cooperation.
The meeting, which was also attended by the Military Attaché of Belarus accredited to Azerbaijan, included a detailed briefing on the activities of the Main Department. The sides also responded to questions of mutual interest.
Following the talks, the Belarusian delegation visited the Military Police Department of the Ministry of Defence, where they laid flowers at the bust of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, paying tribute to his memory.
Deputy Chief of the Main Department of Internal Security and Investigations – Chief of the Military Police Department, Major General Elgun Aliyev, welcomed the guests and highlighted the importance of reciprocal visits in strengthening military cooperation and facilitating the exchange of experience.
The delegation was briefed on the history, structure, functions, logistical capabilities, and training programme of the Military Police Department. The sides also exchanged views on issues of mutual interest.
The Belarusian delegation additionally toured service facilities and sports infrastructure of the Military Police Department.
The visit concluded with an exchange of gifts and a commemorative photograph.
