Azerbaijan, Türkiye deepen military logistics cooperation

19 June 2026 16:43

Azerbaijan and Türkiye have held a joint event aimed at strengthening cooperation in military logistics under the framework of the 17th Azerbaijan–Türkiye High-Level Military Dialogue Meeting.

The event took place at the Main Logistics Department of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defence and was organised in accordance with agreements reached between the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry and the General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces, Caliber.Az reports per the Defence Ministry

Proceedings began with a minute of silence in memory of Azerbaijan’s National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the founder of modern Türkiye, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and military personnel who lost their lives defending the independence and territorial integrity of both countries. The national anthems of Azerbaijan and Türkiye were then played.

During the meeting, Azerbaijani officials presented lessons learned in the field of military logistics during the 2020 Patriotic War. Participants discussed the growing importance of logistics in modern warfare, including issues related to strategic warning systems, critical vulnerabilities, and the role of autonomous sustainment capabilities on contemporary battlefields.

The two sides also exchanged views on wartime food and water supply, the transportation of military equipment and materiel, maintenance operations, casualty evacuation procedures, and the establishment of field support facilities such as bath and laundry units.

Officials emphasised that the close partnership between Azerbaijan and Türkiye contributes to regional peace and stability and supports broader defence cooperation between the two countries.

As part of the programme, the Turkish delegation visited an Azerbaijani military unit, where they were briefed on measures undertaken by the Azerbaijan Army to organise clothing and food support for personnel.

The event concluded with the signing of a working protocol outlining the outcomes of the discussions. The delegations also exchanged commemorative gifts and addressed questions raised by participants.
