Azerbaijan, Türkiye strengthen NATO parliamentary ties in high-level meeting
On December 4, Ramid Namazov, head of the Milli Majlis delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, met Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, former Turkish Foreign Minister, MP, and head of Türkiye's NATO Parliamentary Assembly delegation.
During the meeting, Ramid Namazov highlighted that Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, both as Türkiye's Foreign Minister and in his work with PACE, had always demonstrated a special bond with Azerbaijan, which was mutual, Caliber.Az reports via parliament's press service.
During their meeting, the sides discussed the ongoing cooperation between Azerbaijan and Türkiye within the framework of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, outlining future plans, upcoming initiatives, and the strengthening of inter-parliamentary relations.
Ramid Namazov and Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu expressed their confidence that the delegations from both countries would continue their successful collaboration within the NATO Parliamentary Assembly and jointly address any emerging issues.
Meanwhile, speaking at the Union of International Democrats (UID) meeting in Baku Çavuşoğlu emphasized that supporting Azerbaijan's rightful cause was a shared responsibility, highlighting the deep unity between the two nations.
He reflected on the historical context, recalling how, in 2020, the Azerbaijani army, led by Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, liberated its occupied territories.
"I have come to participate in tomorrow's event of the Western Azerbaijan Community. Today, I had the honour of meeting with President Ilham Aliyev and also enjoyed a productive exchange with members of the Milli Majlis. These moments reaffirm that we stand together in both joy and sorrow," Çavuşoğlu remarked.
Turning to the peace talks between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Çavuşoğlu expressed hope for positive outcomes, urging Armenia to embrace Azerbaijan’s proposals, which he described as reflecting goodwill and sincere intentions.
