Azerbaijan unveils grandiose road project in Zangazur VIDEO
AzVirt construction company has released new footage showcasing the ongoing construction of the 123.6-kilometer-long Horadiz-Jabrayil-Zangilan-Aghband highway, also known as the Zangazur corridor. The foundation for this monumental project was laid by the presidents of Azerbaijan and Türkiye, marking a significant step towards enhancing connectivity and infrastructure in the region.
The video footage captures the highway's entry into its final stages of construction, highlighting the impressive scale and progress achieved thus far. The road, which begins from Ahmadbayli village in Fuzuli district, is being developed to meet international standards for highways of the first technical category, Caliber.Az reports.
Noteworthy features of the Horadiz-Jabrayil-Zangilan-Aghband highway include a 77.5-kilometer section with 6 lanes, providing enhanced capacity for traffic flow. The remaining 46.1 kilometers of the road will consist of a 4-lane configuration. The roadway widths are set at 29.5 and 21.5 meters, respectively, ensuring smooth and efficient transportation across the corridor.
The construction project incorporates three road tunnels, spanning a total length of 6 kilometers, with substantial progress made in laying asphalt concrete pavement on numerous sections. The ambitious timeline aims for the completion of the highway by the year 2025, signaling a significant boost to regional connectivity and economic development.
The Horadiz-Jabrayil-Zangilan-Aghband highway holds strategic importance as part of the larger Hajigabul-Horadiz-Aghband-Zangazur highway network. Its completion is expected to facilitate the economic growth of Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur, fostering improved transportation links and accessibility for the region.
In addition to the highway project, AzVirt also revealed new footage showcasing the construction of the first airfield in Azerbaijan's Lachin district. The video highlights the extensive earthworks and leveling of terrain, illustrating the scale of the upcoming airport project.
The planned airport in Lachin will feature a dedicated control tower, main terminal building, parking facilities, and a runway to accommodate air traffic. This significant infrastructure development is poised to enhance regional connectivity, provide vital air transport services, and support economic growth in the area.
