Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan set date for key Intergovernmental Commission meeting
Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan will convene the 14th session of the Intergovernmental Commission on Cooperation in Baku on June 20.
The event will coincide with the third Interregional Forum, which will include B2B meetings aimed at strengthening economic ties, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The forum’s agenda will focus on exploring economic opportunities across regions and expanding bilateral partnerships between the two countries.
Co-chairing the Intergovernmental Commission are Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov and Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade Laziz Kudratov. Ahead of the meeting, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov in Tashkent, underlining the importance of sustained practical cooperation between their governments. Mirziyoyev emphasized the need for rigorous oversight of ongoing agreements and the development of new initiatives ahead of a forthcoming high-level summit. He also called for ensuring the productivity and success of the upcoming Intergovernmental Commission session and Forum of Regions.
The previous, 13th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission took place in Bukhara, Uzbekistan on July 10, 2024. The first Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Interregional Forum was held in Uzbekistan’s Tashkent city in February 2023, followed by the second forum in May 2024 in Azerbaijan’s Quba district. Currently, joint projects between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan exceed $2.2 billion in value. Data from the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan shows trade turnover between the two nations reached $170.25 million from January to April 2025 — a 3.3-fold increase year-on-year.
