A meeting with the delegation of the World Bank Technical Assistance Mission (WB), which is on a working visit to Azerbaijan, has been held at the Azerbaijani Health Ministry.

Opening the meeting, Azerbaijani Health Minister Teymur Musayev noted that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to cooperation with the World Bank, the world's most influential financial institution, the ministry told Caliber.Az.

In his speech, the minister noted that the use of digital technologies is the basis for reforms in the Azerbaijani healthcare system.

"Cooperation with the World Bank in various fields is of particular importance in terms of applying international best practices," he said.

"Improving the healthcare system is a priority issue for our country," Musayev said.

He also noted that regular meetings between the representatives of the Azerbaijani Health Ministry and World Bank missions give a powerful impetus to strengthening cooperation.

While expressing gratitude for the warm welcome and high hospitality, World Bank Lead Health Economist Driss Zine-Eddine El-Idrissi noted the fruitful cooperation between the World Bank and Azerbaijan, and also expressed support for the reforms which are carried out in the Azerbaijani healthcare system.

The main objectives of the WB Technical Assistance Mission are to technically assess and give recommendations to the Azerbaijani Ministry of Health and other health organisations by the World Bank regarding the payment system and legislative changes necessary for e-health (e-Sehiyye); holding an information-enlightenment workshop to share information on technical assessments conducted by the World Bank team and recommendations on provider payment options and legislative changes required for eHealth, etc.
