Azerbaijani border guards seize over 8 kg of drug on Iranian border
The Azerbaijani State Border Service guards have prevented the smuggling of over 8 kg of drugs from Iran.
The drug smuggling from Iran to Azerbaijan was stopped on June 24 at 23:10 at the border station of the Azerbaijani State Border Service's Horadiz border detachment near Boyuk Bahmanli village in the Fuzuli district, Caliber.Az reports, quoting the state service.
The operation resulted in the seizure of 8.2 kg of drugs from Beylagan resident Hasan Zeynalov (born in 1987), who was smuggling drugs across the state boundary.
Operational and investigative steps have been initiated in response to the incident.
The Horadiz border detachment operates in the liberated Fuzuli District of Azerbaijan on the border with Iran. After liberating its lands from the Armenian occupation during the 44-day war in 2020, Azerbaijan has regained control over the 132-km section of the Azerbaijani-Iranian border.
Following the restoration of its territorial integrity, Azerbaijan is taking steps to ensure the safety and restoration of order in the liberated lands. One of these measures is to halt the flow of drugs in the region that was previously controlled by Armenia's illegal regime in Karabakh.
