Azerbaijani president inaugurates recreation complex in Lachin PHOTO

On May 27, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the inauguration ceremony of the newly constructed Lachin Recreation Complex located in Zerti village, Lachin district.

Ramin Guluzade, Head of the President’s Administrative Services Department, briefed the head of state on the complex's facilities and infrastructure, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

Nestled atop a mountain peak amid the breathtaking landscapes of Karabakh, the modern recreation centre highlights the region’s growing tourism potential. The project is a key component of Azerbaijan’s broader efforts to restore and revitalise its liberated territories.

Covering 11.2 hectares, the Lachin Recreation Complex features a total built-up area of 42,000 square meters. The facility includes a hotel offering 120 rooms of various categories and eight standalone cottages, collectively accommodating up to 324 guests.

Designed to host business and cultural events, the complex boasts a range of versatile venues: a 500-seat event hall, a 340-seat banquet hall, a 100-seat conference room, and several smaller meeting rooms.

Guests are also offered a wide array of leisure options, including restaurants and cafés serving both Azerbaijani and international cuisine. Recreational facilities at the complex include bowling alleys, virtual reality gaming zones, karaoke rooms, billiards, and a children’s entertainment centre.

For sports and outdoor enthusiasts, the complex provides football and basketball pitches, as well as dedicated cycling and hiking trails that wind through the scenic mountainous terrain.

A key focus of the project is local employment. The complex currently employs 174 people, including 122 residents from Lachin, Kalbajar, and other liberated areas, contributing to the socio-economic development of the region.
