Azerbaijani quarter in Türkiye wraps up construction of over 1,300 apartments VIDEO

05 March 2025 17:52

The construction of 1,323 new apartments, with owners set to receive their keys shortly, has been completed in the Azerbaijani quarter in Türkiye's Kahramanmaraş city, situated in Onikishubat district.

This milestone represents a significant achievement in the region's post-earthquake recovery efforts, Caliber.Az reports via Türkiye's Haber Global.

The buildings in the Azerbaijani quarter have been designed with special consideration for the area's seismic risks. Spanning 1.8 million square meters, the district will not only provide residential accommodations but will also feature various restaurants and commercial enterprises, making it an essential hub for both living and business in the region.

A notable highlight of the development is the Heydar Aliyev School, a symbol of the strong cooperation between Azerbaijan and Türkiye. The school was built by the Azerbaijani government in Kahramanmaraş, further solidifying the close ties between the two countries. The broadcast also focused on Azerbaijan’s pivotal role in assisting Türkiye during the devastating earthquakes that struck in February 2023.

Murat Karataş, the correspondent for Haber Global, emphasised that Azerbaijan was the first nation to offer aid, sending rescue teams that were among the last to leave the earthquake-ravaged provinces. In the aftermath of the earthquakes, Azerbaijan sent over 1,500 tons of humanitarian aid to Türkiye. The aid was delivered by 395 trucks, 15 planes, and 25 trains, and included financial assistance amounting to 300 million Turkish lira.
