Azerbaijani troops conclude NATO drills in Georgia
Azerbaijani armed forces have completed their participation in NATO’s multinational command and staff exercises held in Georgia, according to the country’s Ministry of Defence.
The "NATO–Georgia Exercise 2025", now in its fourth iteration, took place at the NATO–Georgia Joint Training and Evaluation Centre (JTEC), Caliber.Az reports per local media.
The drills involved active engagement from both NATO member states and partner nations.
Azerbaijan was among the 17 delegations taking part, alongside several international organisations and institutions that were also involved in the exercise.
The exercises are aimed at enhancing regional security and strengthening the defensive capabilities of participating states.
To recall, the NATO-Georgia Exercise 2025 was a computer-assisted, brigade-level command and staff exercise aimed at training a multinational brigade in the planning and execution of crisis operations under Georgian leadership. Combining a field component with multinational staff training, the exercise demonstrated the command and control capabilities of the NATO-Georgian Joint Training and Evaluation Centre (JTEC) and strengthened operational coordination among participants.
The exercise was jointly organised by NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SHAPE) and the General Staff of the Georgian Defence Forces, and followed NATO-developed scenarios, doctrines, and procedures.
A total of 17 NATO member and partner countries took part, including Georgia, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Türkiye, the United Kingdom, the United States, Azerbaijan, Moldova, Armenia, and Tunisia. Several international organisations and units were also involved.
The exercise incorporated six key initiatives from the NATO-Georgia Essential Package (SNGP): the JTEC, Military Engineering, Military Police, Military Medical Capability Development, Special Operations Forces, and Standardisation and Codification.
Throughout the exercise, participants assessed the capabilities of the Special Operations Battalion Headquarters and Liaison Element, the Military Police Battalion Headquarters and its subordinate units, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit, the Military Medical Company (ROLE 2F), and the 12th Battalion “Charlie” Company of the 1st Infantry Brigade.
