Azerbaijani wrestlers grab 10 medals in Kazakhstan
The international Greco-Roman wrestling tournament among juniors (U20) dedicated to the memory of Zhaksylyk Ushkempirov has completed in Kazakhstan’s capital Astana.
Ten members of the U-20 national team, which participated in the competition under the leadership of senior coach Nuraddin Rajabov, coaches Emin Ahmadov and Turaj Huseynli, climbed to the podium, according to Azertac.
Faraim Mustafayev (67 kg), Ruslan Nurullayev (72 kg) and Davud Mammadov (77 kg) gained a victory. Ismayil Rzayev (82 kg) and Ali Guliyev (87 kg) won silver medals, while Huseyn Savadov (55 kg), Muhammad Shukurzade (63 kg), Tavakgul Haziyev (67 kg), Kanan Abdullazade (77 kg) and Joju Samadov (87 kg) won bronze medals.
Thus, the Azerbaijani team grabbed three gold, two silver and five bronze medals.
The international greco-roman wrestling tournament among juniors (U20) dedicated to the memory of the Honored Master of Sports of the USSR, Olympic champion, world champion, Hero of Labor of Kazakhstan Zhaksylyk Ushkempirov was held at the Martial Arts Palace named after Zhaksylyk Ushkempirov in Astana on March 11-13, 2024. In the renowned competition, the best wrestlers in the world competed in 10 weight categories.
The event was organised by the Committee for Sport and Physical Education of the Ministry of Tourism and Sport of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Greco-Roman, Freestyle and Women's Wrestling Federation, and the Department of Culture and Sports of Astana city.
