Azercosmos: Azersky not victim of cyberattack
The Space Agency under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport (Azercosmos) has commented on the issue of whether the Azersky satellite, which completed its mission one year ahead of schedule, is the victim of a cyberattack.
Samaddin Asadov, chairman of the organization's board, told Report that Azerbaijan has a high level of protection in this area.
"This can be claimed by people who have no idea about the issue. The level of protection in the satellite sphere is so high that a cyber attack is not a subject for discussion at all. This is unequivocal. As we mentioned in the statement, the cause of the loss of communication with the satellite is its collision with a meteorite or small-sized space debris. There are facts confirming the collision," he noted.
The official representative of Azercomos also explained the reason why reconnection with the satellite is impossible: "It must have the energy to communicate with the satellite. When a satellite collides with a meteorite or space debris, it disables the energy system, and the satellite has no energy left to communicate.
