Azercosmos says aware of Russian peacekeepers’ activities in Karabakh
Azercosmos Board Chairman Samaddin Asadov has said that the satellite operator is monitoring the actions of Russian peacekeepers deployed in Azerbaijan’s Karabakh region.
Asadov made the statement at a meeting of the Azerbaijani parliament’s economic policy, industry and entrepreneurship committee on May 11, APA reports.
"We see well what is happening on the territory where the Russian peacekeeping contingent is temporarily stationed. We can timely provide the necessary information to the appropriate authorities,” he said.
In the meantime, he added that the number of Azerbaijan's space satellites will be increased, according to Report.
Since the space sphere is quite conservative and risky, Azerbaijan has alternative points for satellite control, he added.
"Thus, if any unforeseen situations arise in Baku, it will be possible to control our satellites from Nakhchivan. There are currently three Azerbaijani satellites in orbit. The Azərsky remote Earth observation satellite completed its mission last month. In the near future, the number of Azerbaijan's space satellites will be increased," Asadov said.
