Baku Climate Action Week concludes in Azerbaijan
The Baku Climate Action Week (BCAW) has concluded in Azerbaijan, bringing together around 3,000 participants from 25 countries, including government and parliament representatives, scientists, business leaders, women leaders, and youth climate activists.
The week-long event featured 46 sessions and side events held across more than eight venues in Baku, Caliber.Az reports per domestic media.
Discussions addressed over 30 topics and included contributions from former presidents and prime ministers, parliament members, academics, businesses, and representatives of international organisations such as the United Nations, the Nizami Ganjavi International Center, and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
The primary aim of BCAW was to strengthen dialogue and accelerate preparations for COP30, scheduled to be held in Brazil. Key topics covered during the sessions included climate finance and accountability, mechanisms for mobilising resources for a just transition, energy transition and mobility, renewable energy, innovation, urban-level solutions, adaptation and resilience, regional cooperation on climate risks, food systems and the circular economy, sustainable consumption and production, as well as gender and leadership in climate policy.
Roundtable discussions focused on climate-resilient institutions, green construction, sustainable agribusiness, and the green transition. The week also saw the first presentation of the COP29 Sustainable Development Report and the launch of the Azerbaijan Climate University Network.
