Azerbaijani humanitarian aid shipment reaches Iran border photo / updated
Humanitarian aid sent from Azerbaijan to Iran has reached the Astara border checkpoint, according to Azertag.
The shipment was delivered to the border crossing by vehicles operated by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan.
The humanitarian cargo consists of about 30 tons of supplies, primarily food products. The shipment includes 10 tons of flour, 6 tons of rice, 2.4 tons of sugar, more than 4 tons of drinking water and around 600 kilograms of tea. It also contains approximately 2 tons of medicines and other medical supplies.
According to the report, the vehicles carrying the humanitarian assistance are currently departing from the Astara checkpoint toward Iran.
The aid was organized to support the Iranian population following a phone conversation on March 8 between Ilham Aliyev, President of Azerbaijan, and Masoud Pezeshkian, President of Iran.

Azerbaijan has sent humanitarian assistance to Iran to help meet the current needs of the neighbouring country’s population, following a recent conversation between the two countries’ leaders.
According to APA News Agency, the aid shipment was dispatched in line with a telephone conversation held on March 8, 2026, between the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, and the President of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian.
Acting on instructions from President Aliyev, humanitarian supplies were transported to Iran by vehicles of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan.
The cargo includes 10 tons of flour, 6 tons of rice, 2.4 tons of sugar, more than 4 tons of water, about 600 kilograms of tea, and approximately 2 tons of medicines and medical supplies.
The aid was sent to address the current needs of the friendly and neighbouring Iranian people.
