Baku hosts conference devoted to Int’l Tolerance Day PHOTO
Baku hosted the International Conference "Tolerance as a Path to Peace and Cooperation", dedicated to the International Day of Tolerance.
The event was organized by the Caucasian Muslims Office (CMO), the Baku International Centre for Multiculturalism (BMCM) and the US Stirling Foundation, Caliber.Az reports.
The forum was attended by the CMO Chairman Sheikh-ul-Islam Haji Allahshukur Pashazade, Chairman of the BMCM Board of Trustees, Academician Kamal Abdullayev, as well as Chairman of the State Committee for Cooperation with Religious Organizations Mubariz Gurbanli, President and CEO of the US Stirling Foundation Edward Rowe, BMCM Executive Director R. Rasanov, senators of the US State Senate, Azerbaijani MPs, Secretary of the Baku and Azerbaijan Diocese Archimandrite Alexy (Nikonorov), Apostolic Prefect of the Catholic Church in Azerbaijan Bishop Vladimir Fekete, head of the community of Mountain Jews in Azerbaijan Melih Evdaev, heads of various legal and religious centres in the United States, members international organizations, etc.
The first panel of the conference was devoted to the topic "A new stage of US-Azerbaijan cooperation: multiculturalism as a connecting bridge." The topic of the second panel is "Tolerance and Multiculturalism: Religious Perspectives".
Archimandrite Alexy (Nikonorov), Secretary of the Baku and Azerbaijan Diocese, and Bishop Vladimir Fekete, Apostolic Prefect of the Catholic Church in Azerbaijan, made presentations among others.
