Bali expanding travel opportunities
Bali is on track for its most successful tourism year ever, thanks to a surge in new flight routes and expanding regional connectivity.
Bali International Airport is enhancing its connectivity this month with a range of new flight services designed to make travel more convenient, affordable, and enjoyable for tourists heading to Bali, Caliber.Az reports citing the foreign media.
Among the exciting new routes are a direct connection to Phuket, Thailand, and a new service linking Bali with Australia. Additionally, travelers can now access Borneo, the world's third-largest island, thanks to AirAsia’s new flight service.
Borneo, renowned for its rich cultural and ecological diversity, is split between Indonesia, Malaysia, and Brunei Darussalam. With approximately 73 per cent of the island under Indonesian control, the new service facilitates easier travel between Bali and Borneo.
AirAsia’s new route from I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport to Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, launched on August 8 and will operate three times a week. Eddy Krismeidi, Head of Government Relations & Corporate Communications at AirAsia, commented on the successful inaugural flight, expressing optimism about increasing passenger numbers and the possibility of adding more flights if demand remains strong.

AirAsia has launched a new service connecting Bali with Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, offering travelers a chance to explore both Bali and the diverse ecosystems of Borneo. The route, which began on August 8, operates three times weekly and makes it easier than ever to hop from Bali to the heart of Borneo’s jungle. With a flight time of just 2 hours and 40 minutes, tourists can seamlessly transition from Bali's beaches to Kota Kinabalu’s vibrant city life and lush wildlife.
Handy Heryudhitiawan, General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, emphasized the positive impact of this new connectivity on tourism in both destinations. Eddy Krismeidi, Head of Government Relations & Corporate Communications at AirAsia, noted that the initial three flights per week are a starting point, with potential for increased frequency if demand remains strong.
Additionally, travelers can now fly directly from Bali to Phuket, Thailand, with AirAsia's new service operating three times a week. This new route provides Bali enthusiasts with the opportunity to explore Thailand's renowned beaches and resorts.
For Australian travelers, AirAsia is introducing a direct service between Cairns and Bali starting August 14, complementing its existing Brisbane-Bali flights. This addition makes it even easier for Queenslanders to enjoy a tropical getaway in Bali.
Bali is set to experience its most bustling tourism year yet, bolstered by an increase in flight options and expanding regional connections. As the year progresses, Bali is emerging as a central hub for exploring Indonesia and Southeast Asia, with exciting new routes and promotions in the pipeline.
In the coming months, travelers can look forward to enhanced travel packages that feature Bali alongside other stunning destinations such as Lombok and the Flores Islands, including the renowned Komodo National Park. The newly promoted Bali Nusra region will seamlessly integrate Bali Province with East Nusa Tenggara and West Nusa Tenggara, creating a well-connected travel circuit that allows tourists to easily explore multiple iconic islands across the Indonesian archipelago.
