Beijing tells NATO to stop pushing "China threat" narrative
China has urged NATO to abandon what it described as a Cold War mindset and stop portraying Beijing as a security threat, Xinhua reports.
Speaking at a regular press briefing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said NATO is "a regional alliance for defence with clearly defined scope of mission and geographic boundaries" and should stop "finding fault with China at every turn."
Mao called on the alliance to "discard the outdated Cold War mentality, adjust its perceptions of China, and stop hyping up the so-called China threat narratives."
She also reiterated Beijing's longstanding position that China is "a force for world peace" and "never threatens anyone," arguing that the country does not pose a threat to regional or global security.
