Biosphere reserve director killed in strike on Russia's Bryansk region
Two civilians were killed and two others injured following artillery strikes by Ukrainian forces on the settlement of Suzemka in Russia’s Bryansk region, according to acting regional governor Yegor Kovalchuk.
Among those killed was Alexander Nikitenkov, director of the Bryansk Biosphere Reserve “Bryansky Les,” Kovalchuk said in a statement.
“Ukraine carried out artillery strikes on the settlement of Suzemka. Two civilians were killed. One of the deceased is the director of the Bryansk Biosphere Reserve ‘Bryansky Les’, Alexander Nikitenkov,” Kovalchuk wrote.
Regional authorities said two additional civilians sustained injuries and were provided with medical assistance.
Kovalchuk added that the families of those killed and injured would receive the necessary support, including financial compensation.
