Blaze erupts after freight train hits truck in Russia’s Smolensk region
A freight train collided with a car in the Smolensk region of the Russian Federation. Several carriages caught fire.
The incident was confirmed by the press service of the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations, as per Russian media.
"Fire and rescue units are working at the scene — at a railway crossing near the Ryzhikovo station in the Rudnyansky district. According to preliminary information, at around 8 a.m., a freight train collided with a heavy goods vehicle, resulting in several carriages catching fire. Firefighting operations are underway," the report said.
The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations noted that more than 40 specialists and 10 pieces of equipment are involved in the liquidation. Fire and recovery trains have been dispatched to the scene.
No casualties have been reported.
