Bloomberg: Türkiye ready to deploy troops to Gaza despite Israel’s objections
Türkiye has declared its readiness to send troops to the Gaza Strip despite Israel’s resistance and expects support from the United States.
According to Bloomberg, the issue of Türkiye’s participation in the International Stabilisation Forces remains highly contentious. Israel is strongly opposed to the deployment of Turkish troops.
Israel’s Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar stated last month: “Turkey, led by Erdogan, led a hostile approach against Israel. So it is not reasonable for us to let their armed forces enter the Gaza Strip, we will not agree to that and we said it to our American friends.”
Despite Israel’s objections, the United States supports Türkiye’s involvement in the International Stabilisation Forces, which were established after Ankara brokered last month’s ceasefire in Gaza together with Egypt and Qatar. The planned deployment includes both combat and engineering units.
At the same time, Türkiye expects the United States to help deter further Israeli military attacks in the enclave until the international forces are fully deployed. Turkish officials note that most of the troops likely to be involved would be Muslims.
