Body of missing Russian swimmer found in Bosphorus
The body of Russian swimmer Nikolai Svechnikov was reportedly found in the Bosphorus six months after his disappearance, according to the SHOT Telegram channel.
Authorities have urgently summoned his family for identification, Caliber.Az reports.
The swimmer was found wearing a wetsuit, and police believe the body belongs to Svechnikov, who went missing during an open-water swim in August last year.
His relatives told the Telegram channel that they are travelling to confirm the identification.
Earlier reports suggested that Svechnikov may have fallen ill during the event and began to drown near the Sultan Fatih Bridge. His family had offered a reward of 1 million rubles (approximately $12,851) for information leading to the recovery of his body.
