Britain accuses Russia-Iran alliance of targeting Western interests
Britain has accused Russia and Iran of coordinating efforts to exert military and economic pressure on the West.
On March 13, during a visit to Saudi Arabia, Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper said that Moscow and Tehran are “to support each other and try to benefit together from attempting to hijack the global economy,” Caliber.Az report, citing foreign media.
Following Iran’s attacks on vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, the US has eased Russian oil sanctions, allowing countries to temporarily buy oil already loaded on ships at sea as prices climb.
Britain has stated it will not follow this path but has refrained from criticising the US decision.
UK Defence Secretary John Healey noted that Moscow and Tehran are collaborating on drone technology and tactics.
The British military is also investigating whether a drone that struck a UK air base in Cyprus at the start of the conflict contained Russian components.
