British Intelligence exposes Soviet tank depots in Siberia PHOTO
Russia’s military equipment losses in Ukraine have reached staggering figures, with over 3,600 Main Battle Tanks and nearly 8,000 armoured vehicles destroyed since the conflict began in February 2022.
According to the latest update from British Defence Intelligence on X, the increasing depletion of modern military hardware has forced the Russian military to turn to outdated, Soviet-era vehicles stored in strategic depots, Caliber.Az reports.
To compensate for these losses, armoured vehicles are being retrieved from storage, upgraded where feasible, and rushed to the frontlines.
Satellite imagery has revealed a significant decline in the number of stored armoured vehicles at key tank storage facilities in Arsenyev, Buy, and Ulan-Ude since the start of the war.
In a recent development, a senior Russian general, Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, has been killed in a bomb attack outside his Moscow flat, according to Russia's Investigative Committee.
Kirillov, who was head of the Russian Armed Forces' Troops of Radiological, Chemical, and Biological Defence, died on December 17 after an explosive device concealed in an electric scooter detonated outside a building on Ryazansky Prospekt. His assistant was also killed in the blast.
The Investigative Committee confirmed that both men were victims of the attack, but did not provide further details. The bomb had a yield of around 300 grams of TNT equivalent.
The Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) has claimed responsibility for the bombing: "We claim responsibility for the bombing of the head of the Russian Radiological, Chemical and Biological Defence Forces, Igor Kirillov."
