Brussels to host extraordinary NATO meeting after massive Russian attacks on Ukraine
On September 1, an extraordinary meeting of the NATO–Ukraine Council is set to take place in Brussels, convened at Ukraine’s request following a series of massive Russian air attacks.
Speaking on X, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said, “We anticipate a focused discussion on joint steps to adequately respond to Russia's rejection of peace efforts and escalating terror against Ukrainians.”
Sybiha emphasised Ukraine’s gratitude for the continued support of its allies.
“We are grateful to NATO and all allies who continue to show strong support for Ukraine and meaningful peace efforts. Moscow must feel a stronger pressure as the consequence of it prolonging the war,” he added.
To recall, on August 27, a large-scale Russian drone and missile attack targeted Kyiv, killing at least 15 people and injuring 48 others.
The assault damaged numerous residential buildings across the capital. This attack marked one of the most severe on Kyiv since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
