Azerbaijan, EU talk over regional cooperation, Armenia peace process

28 August 2025 17:54

On August 28, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov received Magdalena Grono, the European Union’s Special Representative for the South Caucasus, in Baku.

The meeting focused on the current state and prospects of Azerbaijan-EU cooperation, the ongoing normalisation of Azerbaijani–Armenian relations, and broader regional and international issues, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan.

Bayramov and Grono discussed collaboration across trade, transport, energy, humanitarian, and other sectors, emphasising sustained high-level contacts between Azerbaijan and the EU and the importance of continuing dialogue.

Grono congratulated Baku on its progress in normalising ties with Armenia, achieved during President Ilham Aliyev’s recent visit to the United States, and reaffirmed the EU’s readiness to support the peace process across multiple fronts.

Bayramov briefed Grono on the historic agreements reached in Washington and outlined the prospects for advancing the normalisation process and establishing lasting peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
