29 August 2025 11:06

In a tribute to Türkiye’s Victory Day, a ceremony was held at the Memorial to Turkish Soldiers in Baku, drawing officials and dignitaries from both nations.

According to local media, the event was attended by Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Birol Akgün, members of the Turkish embassy, and other Azerbaijani and Turkish officials. Participants laid a wreath at the memorial, followed by the playing of the national anthems of Azerbaijan and Türkiye.

Speaking at the memorial, Ambassador Birol Akgün paid homage to the martyrs of both Azerbaijan and Türkiye. He underscored the enduring fraternal ties between the two nations and reaffirmed that their close relations will continue to grow stronger.

The delegation then visited the Martyrs’ Alley and the Memorial to Turkish Soldiers, where they laid additional wreaths and flowers in remembrance.

Victory Day in Türkiye, celebrated on August 30, commemorates the decisive triumph of the Turkish army under Mustafa Kemal Atatürk at the Battle of Dumlupınar in 1922. This victory brought an end to the Greek occupation of Anatolia, concluded the Great Offensive, and marked a turning point in Turkish history.
