Azerbaijan, US diplomats in Israel exchange views on South Caucasus peace prospects
Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Israel, Mukhtar Mammadov, has met with US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee to discuss recent regional developments and opportunities for cooperation in the South Caucasus.
According to local media, Mammadov shared news of the meeting on his official social media page, noting that the discussions centred on the outcomes of the recent high-level summit in Washington.
“We had an excellent meeting with US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, during which we discussed the prospects opening up in the South Caucasus following the Historic Peace Summit held three weeks ago with the participation of President Donald Trump, the President of Azerbaijan, and the Prime Minister of Armenia,” Mammadov said.
The ambassador was referring to the recent developments in Washington when a Joint Declaration was signed during a summit hosted by President Trump and attended by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. The leaders endorsed a seven-point framework reaffirming principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the renunciation of force.
At the summit, the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia initialled a draft “Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and Inter-State Relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia,” with Trump, Aliyev, and Pashinyan serving as witnesses to the event.
A central element of the agreement is the creation of the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity” (TRIPP), also referred to as the Zangezur Corridor — a transit passage through southern Armenia designed to link mainland Azerbaijan with its Nakhchivan exclave, enhancing regional connectivity and economic cooperation.
