Cairo, Riyadh unite behind Gaza truce effort
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud have called on all sides to adhere to a ceasefire in Gaza and to support the implementation of a peace plan backed by the United States.
According to CGTN, the two leaders emphasised the importance of guaranteeing uninterrupted humanitarian access to Gaza, accelerating reconstruction efforts, and rejecting any forced displacement of Palestinians. They reiterated that a lasting resolution to the conflict must be grounded in the two-state solution.
During their meeting, the sides also reviewed broader regional and international developments. Both leaders underlined the need for de-escalation, continued dialogue, and stronger coordination among Arab states, while stressing respect for national sovereignty and the principle of non-interference.
President el-Sisi expressed appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s hospitality, conveyed greetings to Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and congratulated the kingdom on its Founding Day.
The leaders further highlighted the strategic importance of relations between Cairo and Riyadh and agreed to deepen political coordination aimed at reinforcing regional stability.
