Cargolux to resume flights to Kazakhstan
Luxembourg-based cargo carrier Cargolux Airlines International S.A. will resume flights to Kazakhstan, strengthening the country’s role in Eurasia’s growing logistics network.
Kazakhstan is playing a key role in the development of the Middle Corridor and could, in the future, become not only a transit hub but also a commercial platform for international air cargo operations, the company’s president Richard Forson said, according to Kazinform, in the context of renewed cooperation with the International Airport of Astana.
From June 1, 2026, Cargolux plans to re-enter the Kazakh market and operate up to 14 cargo flights per week, which is expected to enhance transport connectivity, international trade, and the country’s logistics capacity.
The company noted that the ongoing reconfiguration of global transit flows bypassing the Middle East presents an opportunity to expand its presence in the region.
Cargolux previously operated in Kazakhstan since 2007, using Almaty and later Astana as transit and technical stops, but suspended operations in 2023 due to commercial conditions, including jet fuel costs.
“Kazakhstan plays a critically important role in the Middle Corridor — both in land and air logistics,” Forson said.
The return of Cargolux is seen as a step towards strengthening transport and logistics cooperation and further developing Kazakhstan’s transit potential.
