Caucasian Muslims Office: Armenians change Albanian religious temples in their own style
Chairman of the Caucasian Muslims Office, Sheikh ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade has said that the international community must condemn the burning of the Quran in Sweden, the Netherlands, and similar negative facts.
Pashazade made these remarks at a plenary session on "Building harmonious societies by promoting religious diversity and interreligious respect" within the conference dedicated to the International Day to Combat Islamophobia, according to APA.
“It is known what Armenia has committed against our country and our compatriots over the years. The human tragedy committed in Khojaly and Agdaban is shocking. During the occupation, 65 out of 67 mosques were completely destroyed, and the origin of the churches was distorted. Albanian religious temples were changed to an Armenian style. We invited UNESCO representatives to assess such facts in Karabakh and East Zangezur, but they did not come,” he said.
Azerbaijan's top cleric also noted that Pashinyan wants to attribute the destruction of religious facilities in the Azerbaijani territories during the occupation to the Soviet period.
“As Sheikh ul-Islam, I would like to inform Pashinyan that, although in the Soviet period, these places were used for other purposes, barbaric aggression was not observed. However, the Armenians have turned our historical monuments and mosques into farms,” he added.
