CENTCOM denies reports of Iranian strike on US Navy vessel
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) has denied reports claiming that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) fired two missiles at an American military vessel in the Strait of Hormuz.
On May 4, Iran’s Fars news agency reported that two missiles had struck a US warship attempting to pass through the Strait of Hormuz after Iranian forces announced restrictions on the passage of American ships through the maritime corridor.
In a statement posted on X, CENTCOM rejected the claims.
“No U.S. Navy ships have been struck. U.S. forces are supporting Project Freedom and enforcing the naval blockade on Iranian ports,” the command said.
