Chechen leader calls for strikes on NATO countries over support for Ukraine

19 July 2026 10:10

Head of the Chechen Republic Ramzan Kadyrov has called on Russia to launch military action against NATO member states that supply weapons, provide intelligence and offer other forms of support to Ukraine.

“If they still fail to understand that Russia will not sit idly by and patiently watch everything that is happening, then the time has come … to hammer all of this into their vile NATO throats. As soon as they smell TNT, as soon as they hear the roar of the Kalashnikov and the clanking of the T-90, they will immediately understand and come to the truth. It is time to open fire, and that’s all there is to it!” Kadyrov wrote on his Telegram channel.

According to Kadyrov, Russia is currently conducting what he described as a “restrained military campaign,” but argued that this approach should change because NATO countries understand “only the language of force.”

“As soon as we release the brakes on our war machine, as soon as our millstones begin grinding their bones, all Western leaders will line up to offer their deepest apologies,” he said.

Kadyrov added that units of the Chechen special forces are ready to deploy in any direction designated by Russian President Vladimir Putin and are “literally eager to carry out orders of increased complexity” so that the ground would “burn beneath the feet of Russia’s enemies.”

At NATO’s July summit in Ankara, alliance members pledged to provide Ukraine with €70 billion in military assistance in 2026 and at least the same amount in 2027.

The alliance’s final joint declaration stated that Ukraine contributes to transatlantic security and reaffirmed allies’ “unwavering support” for the country in defending its freedom, sovereignty and territorial integrity.

At the same summit, US President Donald Trump announced that Washington would provide Kyiv with technology to manufacture Patriot air defence systems capable of intercepting ballistic missiles. Financial Times sources also claimed that the United States has been supplying intelligence to the Ukrainian military for strikes on Russian oil refineries. Trump himself said such attacks could help bring the war to an end sooner.

According to the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, between the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022 and January 2026, the United States allocated approximately €114.6 billion in assistance to Ukraine, while European countries provided around €270 billion.
