Chechnya’s Grozny Airport halts operations twice as drone strikes reported

05 December 2025 12:07

Grozny Airport in Chechnya has suspended its flight operations for the second time this morning, while restrictions at Vladikavkaz and Magas airports have been lifted.

According to Russian media, Rosaviatsiya press secretary Artem Korenyako confirmed the measures, explaining that the temporary restrictions were introduced to ensure flight safety. Across Russia, a total of 11 airports experienced operational halts overnight and in the early hours of the morning.

Earlier today, Grozny Airport had stopped all arrivals and departures around 06:00, with the restrictions lifted at approximately 09:00. However, operations at the airport were again limited later in the morning.

“The restrictions are necessary to ensure safety,” Rosaviatsiya stated.

Local residents reported a drone strike on the Grozny City complex in the capital of Chechnya during the early hours of December 5, according to the Telegram channel ASTRA.
