China, Egypt discuss Middle East war, emphasising dialogue, ceasefire
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held a telephone conversation with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty to discuss the ongoing war in the Middle East, according to the official website of China’s foreign ministry.
During the call, Abdelatty briefed Wang on the regional situation and Egypt’s position, expressing serious concern over the conflict. He praised China’s neutral stance and role, and indicated that Egypt was ready to continue cooperation to resolve the situation as quickly as possible, Caliber.Az reports.
Wang Yi reaffirmed China’s principled position, noting that both China and Egypt, as responsible nations, advocate resolving regional issues through dialogue and consultation and oppose the use of force. He stressed that the prolonged conflict only worsens the suffering of local populations, places severe pressure on regional economies, and further undermines international and regional security and stability.
The Chinese foreign minister said that an immediate ceasefire is the consensus of the international community and called on all parties to urge those involved to halt hostilities to prevent further escalation. He added that China is ready to maintain communication and coordination with regional countries, including Egypt, and continue playing a constructive role in the pursuit of peace.
