Chinese cars lose momentum in Russia as annual sales plunge 27%

Sales of new Chinese cars in Russia totalled 48,000 units in July 2026, down 27% from the same period last year, according to a study by Gazprombank Autoleasing obtained by TASS.

Despite the year-on-year decline, sales of Chinese vehicles increased by 6% compared with June, or by nearly 3,000 cars. At the same time, the market share of Chinese brands in Russia fell to 40%, down 15% from July 2025.

Haval led sales among Chinese brands in July 2026 with 15,600 vehicles sold, followed by Geely with 8,300, Changan with 5,700, Jetour with 4,400 and GAC with 1,900.

The top 10 also included Omoda with 1,700 vehicles sold, Jaecoo with 1,500, Tank with 1,400, Exeed with 1,300 and Voyah with 978.
