CIS to approve military cooperation concept in upcoming summit
The heads of state of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) are set to adopt a concept for military cooperation through 2030, along with several documents on counterterrorism and border security, during their meeting in Dushanbe on October 10.
CIS Secretary-General Sergey Lebedev made the statement in an interview with the Uzbek Khovar news agency, Caliber.Az informs.
“Nineteen issues will be submitted for consideration by the heads of state. Among the documents expected to be signed, particular attention will be given to decisions addressing cooperation in security, crime prevention, terrorism, and extremism,” Lebedev said.
He added that the summit will also approve programs for cooperation among CIS member states in counterterrorism and extremism for 2026–2028, as well as in strengthening external border security for 2026–2030.
Other planned documents include the military cooperation concept through 2030, a joint statement on combating transnational crime, a declaration on regional energy security cooperation, and additional agreements.
