Russian authorities have detained Vyacheslav Korobeynikov, the former deputy head of Karabash, ex-deputy minister of construction and housing in the Yaroslavl region, on suspicion of accepting a bribe, according to law enforcement sources.
Korobeynikov allegedly received a payment from a company director in exchange for providing protection and failing to act on a contract linked to the state “Clean Water” programme, Caliber.Az reports citing Russian media.
The detention involved officers from the regional Investigative Committee and the Chelyabinsk branch of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Searches are ongoing at Korobeynikov’s residence, and authorities are expected to request pretrial detention.
