CSTO Secretary General: Azerbaijan has its own resources to ensure security in Karabakh
Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) Imangali Tasmagambetov has said that Azerbaijan has its own resources to ensure security in the Karabakh region.
“Stability in Karabakh mainly depends on the prospects of signing a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan,” Tasmagambetov told TASS.
Russian peacekeepers have withdrawn troops from the temporary deployment zone within Azerbaijan.
Earlier statements by Azerbaijani presidential aide and head of the Foreign Policy Department under the Presidential Administration, Hikmat Hajiyev, confirmed that the decision to initiate the early withdrawal of Russian peacekeepers, stationed temporarily in Azerbaijan per the Trilateral Statement signed on November 10, 2020, was jointly made by the presidents of both countries. Hajiyev added that the withdrawal process has already commenced, with the Azerbaijani and Russian Defense Ministries undertaking the necessary measures to facilitate the implementation of this decision.
