Iran reaffirms good, balanced relations with Azerbaijan, Armenia
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei has reaffirmed his country's good and balanced relations with both Azerbaijan and Armenia.
Addressing a press conference, Baqaei reiterated Iran's support for the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, calling for the swift signing of a peace treaty to ensure long-term stability in the South Caucasus, Caliber.Az reports per Iranian media.
"Regarding the issue of Armenia and Azerbaijan, we have always emphasised support for the peace process between the two countries and called on both sides to sign a peace treaty as soon as possible," Baqaei stated, highlighting Tehran’s consistent position on the matter.
Baqaei stressed that peace and stability in the South Caucasus are of “strategic importance” to Iran, which shares borders with both Armenia and Azerbaijan and maintains longstanding relations with each.
"We have good and balanced relations with both countries, Armenia and Azerbaijan, and we stress the continuation of the good neighbourhood policy," he added.
