Ukrainian drone attack hits one of Russia’s major oil refineries PHOTO

25 July 2026 12:50

A fire broke out at the Tyumen oil refinery in Russia’s Tyumen region after a Ukrainian drone crashed on the facility’s premises, regional Governor Alexander Moor said.

“As a result of the drone attack, a Ukrainian drone crashed on the premises of the Tyumen Oil Refinery. A fire broke out. Emergency services are on the scene. I am personally monitoring the situation,” Moor said, Caliber.Az reports.

Russia’s independent media outlet ASTRA, citing sources in Tyumen, reported that at least two explosions were heard and air defence systems were activated. Smoke was seen rising above the refinery, although one of the visible plumes reportedly came from the facility’s flare stack, which is designed to safely burn flammable gases.

The Tyumen oil refinery (TNPO, a subsidiary of the Moscow-based company “RI-INVEST”) is one of Russia’s largest independent oil refineries, located in the industrial zone of the city of Tyumen, near the Antipino housing estate. The plant has a capacity of around 8 million tonnes of crude oil per year, with a refining depth of up to 98 per cent. Its main products are Euro 5-compliant diesel fuel, stable gas petrol, petroleum coke, bitumen and fuel oil.

The facility was also reportedly targeted in June 2026 and October 2025.
