Magnitude 5.8 earthquake strikes off Russia’s Kamchatka peninsula

A magnitude 5.8 earthquake struck the Pacific Ocean off Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula on the night of July 25, according to the regional Emergency Situations Ministry.

The earthquake’s epicentre was located 169 kilometres south of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, with its focus at a depth of 61 kilometres, according to the Kamchatka branch of the Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.

Tremors of up to magnitude 4 were felt in some parts of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.

No tsunami warning was issued, and authorities reported no disruption to daily life.
