Czech PM Babiš backs Orbán ahead of Hungarian elections
Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš has expressed support for Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán ahead of upcoming elections in Hungary, stating that Orbán has consistently defended the interests of Hungarian citizens and the national interests of the state, according to a post on X.
“Supporting Viktor Orbán this Sunday… He has always fought for a stronger Europe, one built on peace, sovereign nations, sovereign member states, competitiveness. He always protected Hungarian citizens and Hungarian national interests. In turbulent times, choosing stability and proven leadership matters more than ever,” Babiš wrote.

He also emphasised that Orbán stands for a strong Europe based on peace, sovereign nations, sovereign member states, and competitiveness.
Hungary is a parliamentary republic, and parliamentary elections are scheduled for Sunday, April 12, 2026. Orbán has served as prime minister since 2010 and previously held the post from 1998 to 2002. If re-elected, it would be his sixth term in office.
