Death toll climbs to 32 in Russian missile strike on Ternopil
The number of casualties from the Russian missile strike on Ternopil has risen again, as rescuers discovered the body of another woman under the rubble overnight.
RBC-Ukraine reported the update, citing Serhii Ziubenko, head of the Ternopil regional police.
“As of 3:00 a.m. on November 22, rescuers found the body of another woman at the site of the rubble clearance after the enemy strike in Ternopil,” Ziubenko said.
He confirmed that the death toll now stands at 32, including six children, while 94 people have been injured, including 18 children.
The strike occurred on the night of November 19, when Russian forces launched a combined attack on Ternopil using cruise missiles and attack drones. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Kh-101 missiles were used in the assault. The attack is considered one of the deadliest since the start of Russia’s invasion.
The strike caused significant damage to residential buildings, with casualties reported among civilians. In one multi-story building, parts of the structure collapsed, prompting a search and rescue operation that has been ongoing for three days.
Following the strike, Ternopil declared Days of Mourning from November 19 to 21 in honour of the victims killed in the Russian assault.
