Drone debris found in Poland near border with Belarus
Polish authorities have discovered debris from an unidentified drone near the border with Belarus, marking the latest in a series of aerial incidents in the region, which remains on heightened alert due to the ongoing war in neighbouring Ukraine.
According to a Facebook statement from police in Biała Podlaska, border guards reported the find on the evening of September 7, shortly before 10 p.m. local time. The debris was located near the Terespol border crossing, in the village of Polatycze, Caliber.Az reports.
“All services were notified of the incident, including the District Prosecutor's Office in Biała Podlaska. The site has been secured,” the statement said. No injuries were reported.
Earlier, on September 6, another object — believed to be a smuggling drone — crashed in eastern Poland, according to a spokesperson from the Ministry of Defence.
In August, a drone believed to have originated from Belarus crashed into a cornfield in eastern Poland, igniting crops and damaging nearby homes. Polish prosecutors said the object likely crossed the border from Belarusian territory
