Drone strike hits Empils chemical plant in Russia’s Rostov, oil tanks ignite PHOTO / VIDEO

In Russia’s city of Rostov-on-Don, the Empils paint and chemical plant was reportedly targeted in an attack, ASTRA Telegram channel reports.

Local residents confirmed a strike on the Empils facility, with initial reports noting that oil storage tanks caught fire. 

Empils is one of the key chemical and paint manufacturing plants in southern Russia.

While official confirmation is still pending, Yuri Slyusar, governor of Russia’s Rostov region, said a fire broke out following ‘an attack on one of the industrial sites in the western part of the city.’

He later clarified that “due to a UAV strike during the night, buildings at industrial and warehouse enterprises in the western industrial zone of Rostov caught fire.”
