Drone strike kills two in Russia’s Belgorod region
Two people were killed in the Russian city of Stary Oskol after a drone strike set fire to a residential building, according to local authorities in the Belgorod region.
Regional Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said the drone hit a private house, triggering a fire that caused a partial collapse of the structure. Rescue teams responding to the incident later discovered the bodies of two people at the scene, he said in a statement published on his Telegram channel, Caliber.Az reports.
Gladkov said that the drone attack occurred on February 2. He added that another drone detonated nearby, shattering windows in more than ten apartments across three apartment buildings and damaging a vehicle.
Emergency responders from Russia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) were deployed to extinguish the fire and assess the damage. Door-to-door inspections are continuing as authorities check for additional damage, the governor said.
