Drone strikes hit Samara oil refinery, Russia claims
Russian authorities have reported that drones, allegedly operated by Ukraine, targeted the Syzran oil refinery in the Samara region. Ukrainian officials have not confirmed the reports.
The claim was made by Samara Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev, who said the drones struck industrial sites across the region, including key facilities in the fuel and energy sector, Caliber.Az reports per Ukrainian media.
According to Fedorishchev, two people were killed and a further two injured in Syzran when a drone reportedly crashed during the attempted defence of the site.
Local sources said the refinery targeted was the Syzran facility operated by Rosneft, which has a processing capacity of 8.5 million tonnes per year. The plant was previously hit in August, temporarily halting operations.
Authorities also reported drone attacks on several electricity substations in the region.
