Russia detains foreign national over alleged plot to bomb prosecutor's office

A foreign national has been arrested in Russia over an alleged plot to bomb the prosecutor's office in the city of Pyatigorsk, the country's Federal Security Service (FSB) told RBC.

The FSB said the Central Asian-born suspect was allegedly preparing to bomb the prosecutor's office on instructions from militants based in Syria.

The agency described the suspect as a supporter of an international terrorist organisation banned in Russia.

According to the FSB, the man planned to travel to Syria after carrying out the attack. The suspect has been placed under arrest.
